PR Number: P00-491
The new KardexRemstar Megamat® vertical carousel provides simple automation for medical device manufacturers and distributors to meet five out of the seven lean principles within as little as ten days. The Megamat carousel is a cost effective option for most facilities, including clean room applications, that saves up to 75% floor space, increases productivity by 2/3, improves accuracy levels up to 100% and can efficiently comply with the FDA's Part 820 storage and handling requirements. KardexRemstar will be exhibiting at the Medical Device & Manufacturing West Show in Anaheim, CA February 10 - 12, 2009 in booth #1701.
The KardexRemstar system is designed to increase storage density with the ability to store various sized products and can be easily configured to accommodate physical changes of stored goods quickly. Organizations often produce goods before they are required, this allow them to keep only what is needed on hand, effectively reducing overproduction.
The Megamat carousel eliminates wait time and unnecessary motion such as walking, searching, reaching and bending. Items are delivered to the operator at an ergonomic height providing less worker fatigue. Batch picking, pick-to-light and inventory management software are just a few keys to simplifying in place processes, increasing productivity.
By using the Megamat system organizations are able to reduce unnecessary transportation of goods, increase accuracy while helping to eliminate defects in production. The carousel stores ample amounts of items in one spot eliminating the need to transport production pieces from one work cell to another allowing the operator to complete all tasks at one station.
The KardexRemstar Megamat carousel provides storage for up to class 100,000 clean room applications. Full product enclosure maintains the cleanliness of stored items reducing exposure to outside contamination. A wide range of bin sizes and shelves and dividers, security doors and rollout drawers allow flexibility for efficient storage and prevent product cross contamination. These systems can also be integrated with environmental control systems to manage, ambient factors such as temperature and humidity to help maximize product shelf life.
